Ian Young - CEO

Ian is the CEO of the Everyone Matters Schools Trust and Principal at Rainford High.

The vision for the Everyone Matters Schools Trust came out of the Trustees and Ian’s belief that a community-focused multi-academy trust could make a long-term difference for the education and life chances of every person involved in the Trust and the community it serves.

The Trust ethos of Everyone Matters, Everyone Helps and Everyone Succeeds has grown from its development at Rainford High to create an inclusive trust that is driven by collaborative partnership and values the autonomy and agency of partner schools. Ian has been a senior leader for over 20 years and has worked in Lancashire, Knowsley and inner city Liverpool as well as Rainford High. He also inspects for OFSTED.

His passion is that every child gets a great education provided by their local school and this passion underpins his work to build a strong inclusive, community-based multi-academy trust that improves the life chances of every person involved.

Alex Fairclough-Marsh - CFOO & Company Secretary

With a strong academic foundation that includes a degree in Business Management, a Master’s in Managerial development along with professional finance qualifications through AAT and CIPFA, Alex brings a comprehensive blend of strategic, financial, and operational expertise to her work.

An experienced career that has spanned the charity, public and private sectors, provides a broad perspective on organisational leadership and performance.

For the past 15 years, she has dedicated her career to the education sector, specialising in academy conversions, organisational development, and strategic management, playing a significant role in guiding schools and trusts through periods of significant change, helping them strengthen governance, enhance financial resilience, and build sustainable structures for long term success.

Alex is highly skilled in financial management, people management and risk management and is committed to fostering strong, collaborative working environments where teams can thrive and deliver exceptional outcomes.

Her work is driven by a passion for improving educational settings and ensuring that resources are used effectively to support learners and communities.

Carrie Andrews - Associate Business Lead

Carrie is a Business and Media Graduate from the University of Hertfordshire, AAT qualified with an accreditation in School Business Administration and Contract Management.  An experienced Executive skilled in procurement and supply chain management, Carrie has spent the last 15 years transfering and utilising her skills in the education sector having worked across schools in London and the South East, and the North West of England.

Stacey Howe - Finance Manager

Stacey is an ACCA finalist member with over 20 years’ experience of working in education finance from primary education through to HE and FE sectors. Stacey has worked from the ground up to gain experience of all aspects of finance and has developed her management accounting experience working for the last 8 years in the Multi Academy Trust sector

John Simpkin - Estates Manager

John served for 30 years in Greater Manchester Police before taking up a role at Up Holland High School as a site manager.  He developed the role and was able to plan and manage various projects such as the excellence centre and fitness suite.  In 2023 the oppourtunity to join the trust became available and with it the opportunity to work within other schools and to be able to contribute to them.  He enjoys the challenge of planning and designing new projects and seeing them through to conclusion.  He takes responsibility for the Health and Safety Matters and day to day operations within the trust.

Dave Taylor - Welfare Officer

Dave is the Trust Attendance and Welfare officer who has over 25 years’ experience working with children and famillies to offer support and guidance in a variety of different ways when required and is very experienced in working with young people in a secure settings to help reengage them back into education.  Dave and his wife have also fostered over 25 children aged between 6 weeks and 16 years.
